Privacy Policy
Effective July 4, 2026
AeroIQ, LLC ("AeroIQ", "we", "our") operates the MEL IQ mobile
application and related backend services (the "Service"). This
policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and
the choices you have.
Information you provide
- Account details: your name, email address,
and (optionally) airman certificate type and number, used to
sign you in and pre-fill printed logbook entries.
- Operator context: the aircraft
registration, MEL / NEF / CDL documents, and deferrals your
operator authorizes you to access. Operator data is owned by
the operator, not by AeroIQ.
- Discrepancy text: the natural-language
queries you enter (e.g. "cabin pressurization inop") so the
Service can find the matching MEL entry.
- Deferral records: the discrepancies you
open, extend, and clear against your operator's aircraft,
including snapshotted item details, corrective action,
timestamps, and the signing user.
Information collected automatically
- Device identifiers used only to route push
notifications (via Apple Push Notification service). No
advertising identifiers are collected.
- Basic diagnostic and error logs to help us
keep the Service running. These do not identify individual
users.
How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the MEL IQ Service.
- To answer your queries by matching them against the
operator's MEL / NEF / CDL documents (see "Third parties"
below for how AI matching works).
- To notify you of relevant events on your operator's
aircraft (new deferrals, coming-due items, MMEL revisions,
etc.), governed by the alert preferences your operator's
administrator has configured.
- To meet regulatory and audit obligations that apply to MEL
/ NEF / CDL recordkeeping.
Third parties
To operate the Service we share limited data with the following
processors, each bound to protect the data they handle:
- Anthropic PBC — the AI backend that
matches your natural-language queries against your operator's
MEL entries. Your discrepancy text and the relevant MEL entry
text are sent to Anthropic for the duration of a query;
Anthropic does not train its models on this data.
- Resend — transactional email
provider used to send account invitations, alerts, and
reports. Only the email address and message body are shared.
- Apple Push Notification service —
routes push notifications to your device; sees only a
short-lived device token.
- Render (or successor hosting provider)
— hosts the AeroIQ backend and database.
We do not sell your personal information to any party, and we
do not use it for advertising.
Data retention
Deferral records are retained for as long as the operator
requires them for regulatory or audit purposes; the operator's
administrator controls retention. Account records are retained
while your account is active and for a reasonable period
afterward for audit purposes. You may request deletion of your
account (see "Contact" below).
Security
Passwords are stored as PBKDF2 hashes. Sensitive information
in transit is protected by TLS. Session tokens on iOS are stored
in the device Keychain. AeroIQ does not directly access, read,
or store your device's photos, contacts, or location data.
Your choices
- You can review, update, or clear your profile information
at any time from the MEL IQ app.
- You can disable push notifications in iOS Settings.
- You can request deletion of your account by writing to
support@myaeroiq.com.
Deletion may be constrained by the operator's regulatory
retention rules for deferral records you have signed.
Children
MEL IQ is a professional aviation tool. It is not directed at,
and not intended for use by, anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We will update the effective date at the top of this page when
we materially revise this policy. For significant changes we will
also notify users through the app or by email.
